Dare to be ME!

“What’s my next step?”

To find out who I really am... and embrace the outcome! Dare to be different... dare to be me!

I have recently decided to go on a journey of self-discovery. I have been through a lot in my short life, and I feel like some point I either lost who I was... or maybe I never really knew! I am going through a lot of personal changes lately: exiting graduate school, entering the workforce, getting married, buying a house, and losing some loved ones.

I often let the outside world dictate too much about my mood, who I am, or what I'm going to do... but no more! I have a mind of my own for a reason!

Questions you want to explore, that make you curious

I am curious by nature, so I can't even begin to list all my questions. But I know I really need to start ASKING the questions.... and listen to the answers. Maybe writing them down in a journal would help? Some things I think will help with my self-discovery are:

  • Who is Rebecca? (What do I want out of life, what makes me tick, what makes me happy?)
  • What jobs would fit ME and the lifestyle that I want for myself and my family?
  • How can I continue to learn? I need keep my skills competitive just in case I want to explore need career/job opportunities. Skillshare is already one step!
  • What would life be like in my "dream" jobs?
  • What drives my creativeness? How can I keep that flowing and not get overwhelmed/negative?
  • What are some goals I want to set for the year, 5 years, and 10 years? How can I accomplish them?

Relevant facts and historical examples, that gave you strength

  • This video! "This is an exercise in inviting yourself to change. It is an exercise in realizing that you can constantly design (redesign) yourself in your journey by focusing your creative energies onto yourself."
I know I can figure out who I am, and that might change as I grow... have kids... get a new career.. but I need to have a good base and start practicing now. If I feel like I never knew who I truly was, now is a good as time as any!
  • My support sytem (my fiance) gives me strength everyday... and supports and encourages my creative life.

Discoveries you hope to find, or have made.

  • Who I am... and how to be me!
  • What is takes to stay in my creative, motivated state for as long as possible.
  • How to work on my emotions, and not get down (use "I can't" "I suck) when projects are going the way I want immediately.
  • Who is in my corner.... who is supporting me, who shares similar visions, who inspires me!

Actions that you envision yourself taking as a creative leader

  2. Put together an inspiring office space
  3. Rid my life of negativity, fill with inspiration (people, quotes, music, stay away from social media...whatever it takes!)
  4. Be present! (Loved this phrase Krysten Marie)
