Curitiba Winter's collection portfolio

This is the project that completes the first and second projects of Bonnie's classes.

I decided to make this portfolio as a presentation for the Curitiba Winter collection that I develloped in the classes and not a portfolio of all the works I have.

WHO IS CLAUDIA?

I'm from Curitiba in the South of Brazil and, I'm a designer who recently discovered the amazing world of possibilities in the surface pattern design.

I spend many years abroad and during this period, each time I came back for holidays the love that I had for this nature and was not aware of, started to come out little by little.

Now that I'm again surrounded by this impressive, magnificent, beautiful nature of the Atlantic Rainforest, it not only inspires me every day, but also gives me the strength to go on.

Nature is magic!

PROCESS

I kept the inspiration from my first pattern, but this time I took the "literatura de cordel" part of the moodboard.

Literatura de cordel are cheap chap-books or pamphlets written in verse telling stories about local catastrophes, popular legends, infamous love affairs, etc, illustrate with woodcut images.

Hope you have enjoyed this journey in my city!

See you around.

PROTOTYPE OF THE HANDMADE PORTFOLIO

As I'm inspired by the literatura de cordel booklets I decided to make one booklet for each collection and made a set to storage them in a box, so I can adapt de set according to the client I'm going to send it to.

Set of books from my library.

I made a prototype to see if the idea would please me and tohave some feedback from my friends and family.

Finishing with a knot. I learned to make this booklet in this class : Bookbinding: Make a Pocket Sized Notebook.

Instead of cutting the thread very close to the knot I decided to use it as a tag holder with the name of the collection. Yes, I did cut a little bit of the name from the tag, but I promise you to take care doing the final one. ;o)

I made some labels to put on the set's box. In order to make it at home you have to print your labels with a laser print. It doesn't work if it is an ink jet printer.

After you use transparent tape over the printed parts.

And finally you put it into the water and you slowly rub the paper of to have a transparent label made at home.

I could see that this is the way I want to present my work by doing this prototype.

My friends and family loved the idea, but they think it has to be bigger. I agree with them on that.

Now, let's start making a lot of collections to make a lot of booklets and send these boxes into the world!

Hope you like it and feel free to make comments and give me some advice.
