Cuppa Clay

Cuppa Clay - student project

For my project, I chose to make a little doodle about my pottery business, Cuppa Clay. I make mostly tea cups, mugs, and other various drinking apparatus. I throw everything on the wheel, and then hand paint all my pieces with patterns, sketches, and doodles. The fun, quirky nature of this project was perfect for the aesthetic and attitude of my art and my studio!

One other thing I loved about this project is that it takes no time at all. I nanny an 8 month old baby and I was able to squeeze this project from start to finish into his 30 minute nap window! Woohoo! It's such a fun way to create something super awesome without a whole lot of time and energy.

I didn't have tracing paper or a scanner, so I decided to use the thinnest paper I could find and hold it up to a window to trace my drawing. Then I took a picture with my phone, imported it to photoshop and voila! It worked wonderfully!

And below is the final product! I love how to lines and squiggles on the cup and the wheel make it look like its actually spinning! I didn't have enough time to add texture or background colors before the little guy woke, but I'll definitely be experimenting more with GIFs! I'm totally hooked!
