Creativity is not a talent. It is a way of operating.

I picked the sentence "Creativity is not a talent. It is a way of operating." by John Cleese.

This is what reassures me: creativity & imagination are not magic. You need to work everyday, be curious and then apply the process that fits you in order to create awesome stuff.

First I tought I got ideas without doing anything special (which scares me because I was worried of not having idea anymore). But actually I have a process. And Mary Kate McDevitt explains it very well on her first video - Brainstorming keywords, then look for images as references, then create a moodboard. I realized I do that naturally so it reassured me.

This is the first step: my sentence and keywords.

My homework for Mary Kate Mc Devitt Skillshare hand lettering class - step 1: pick a sentence and brainstorm keywords.

I then decided to cut a bit the sentence so it won't be so long (advice from Mary Kate).

"Creativity is a way of operating."

"Creativity is not a talent. It is a way of operating" Or "Creativity is a way of operating" ? The shorter version might be easier to draw as less letters but I am afraid of losing the deep meaning of the original one... What do you think?

I will update this post with next steps.
