Creating a Modernist Poster in Illustrator Using Grids

In this class, you’ll learn how to set up a grid in Adobe Illustrator to create a minimalist poster for a concert by your favourite band.

Grids are essential for great design, as they are the foundations upon which art and design are built. Nothing is ever placed arbitrarily, but instead serves a purpose: every detail is used with conscious intent, and creating a grid establishes a solid frame that eliminates a lot of frustration and guesswork involved with sorting out what should go where, and why.

We will provide you with step-by-step instruction on how to set up a grid, and how to then use that grid to establish information hierarchy and optimal placement for your visuals. You’ll end up with a brilliant poster design, and new insights about how to use grids for all manner of future projects.
