Creating Zines: Sharing your Creativity with the World!

Hello Everyone,

I am so excited to finally be teaching on Skillshare and sharing my design knowledge with other students out there. I have always thought about teaching on Skillshare but never really made it happen. I have joined the August teach challenge to push myself and get my very own class on Skillshare.
Like said in my bio, I am a freelance graphic designer and illustrator keen to share my knowledge with the world. I have always been interested in the creative industries and never stopped practising and developing my creative skills. I have designed posters, logos, banners, artworks, stop motion videos, packaging, and tons of zines! I am very excited to upload my first Skillshare class and teach other students about self-published zines. Feel free to leave comments and feedback.

Creating Zines: Sharing your Creativity with the World!

Let your imagination flow and express your ideas through the power of zines.

Zines are small self-published works of a combination of text, images, and drawings about any topic. Zines are usually made with ‘old fashioned’ methods, techniques and resources such as printing presses, stamping or colleging which gives them the unique, quirky, creative look they have.

Join the creative freelance designer and illustrator Renae Domigan on a journey of exploring your imagination and craziest thoughts with the power of zines. This class will provide you with all the skills, knowledge and resources you need to create your very own zine from scratch. Zines are a cheap DIY form of expression and storytelling. Zines are all about sharing your message, illustrations, story, passions, thoughts, imagination and much more with the world! You don’t need permission to get started.

Create a zine on a topic of your choice. You will need a page for brainstorming your ideas, a page for the practical exercise, and a page or two for your actual zine. Materials like pens, pencils, pastels, inks, paints, tape, staples, a ruler, and glue are highly recommended. It’s as simple as just choosing a topic and letting your creativity run free.

Zines can be about anything. Go explore and get creating!
