Create 3 focal prints in 3 weeks

Another version - in the colours I had originally planned, although I prefer the new colourway. I've also fixed a few errors that were in the repeat...

Finally a finished pattern! This is called Tattershall and is a half-drop repeat. I completely changed the colours but might do a second version using the original colours in my moodboard. Been staring at this for too long so i'll save that job for another day...

Well, mac nightmare over and i'm playing catch up... here are some of the motifs for my fairytale pattern. I changed the swan as my kids rightly pointed out it looked like a goose. My fiercest critics!!

So I've had a bit of a disaster. I'd been working on my patterns all week and then my mac died yesterday and I hadn't backed it up for a week so i've lost the work i've done for this course :( It's now at the mac hospital where they are trying to retrieve the data and I went on an emergency shopping trip to the mac store and bought a shiny new one. BUT it now means I'm way behind. Lesson learnt about backing up EVERY DAY!!!!

On the bright side I'm loving my new macbook pro - the retina screen is amazing!!

Hope you're all doing better than me with your projects x

Hi, here are a few sketches for my 3 patterns...

Hi Everyone,

In case you didn't read my intro, I'm a mum of 3 living in London and married to an intellectual property lawyer (i know, handy!). I work as a designer and starting making patterns last year.

So I've been thinking about my 3 designs, but *confession time* I don't usually use mood boards when I'm designing, I generally draw from my imagination and don't like to get too specific in terms of research. But I've had a go for this workshop and gathered a few ideas and colours.

I've been loving all the watermelon and ice lolly designs in the shops at the moment and thought I'd have a go at a fun, summery print. My keywords are: fun, summer, bee, grass, sharing, bright, picnic, lemonade, strawberry, refreshing.

I know it's been done to death but the woodland theme is so rich in imagery and inspiration. I've been thinking about the woodland walks we went on as kids in the Trough of Bowland (in Lancashire, UK). Keywords: leaves, autumn, chill, crisp, berries, fawn, mushrooms, walk, fox, moss.

Much of my work explores childhood memories which is why I love imaginative themes. Keywords: castle, knight, princess, petals, clouds, trees, bunting, birds, dancing, dreaming.
