Create 3 Focal point patterns - Final Patterns

My first mini collection is ready - I'm so excited.  What has emerged is so different to what I thought I would create.  Lots of learning still to be done and style to develop.  This process has shown me the importance of thinking about how and where your patterns will be used. I want to create a beautiful floral to make a cover for my Mac - that is my next project. xxxx

=======================

Wow, that was a bit of a labour of love, but I learnt tons about how to draw and construct and colour.  I Which means lots more questions for Bonnie!!!   Not sure if they are true focal prints, but I would like to pull some elements out to expand.  I found it really difficult to decide on final colourways, but here is what I've ended up with....  Can't wait to see everyone else's....

Here are my motifs for the patterns I hope to create.  This exercise made me realise how important the drawing phase is - I have been scribbling my sketches quickly, so I have something to work with and will probably have to redo a lot of them.  A good lesson to learn....

I'm Emma, from London, UK.  Hi everyone.

I am a freelance graphic designer really wanting to branch out into pattern design.  I have always adored pattern - collecting, sketching, particularly florals but I didn't know that Pattern Design was a profession!

I am taking things slow, still learning PS/AI and Mac, a little intimidated by the amazing things I see on the project page but my design background is helping with the Inspiration Boards at least.  A little embarrassed at how awful my sketches look but happy to be here to learn and love Bonnie Christine's gentle way of teaching.  Looking forward to seeing what everyone is creating.

My three topics are Coffee Time (true love!!), Paper Straws (a girls party theme), and Garden Rosie (an english garden) and I have incorporated my words onto my inspiration board.   xxx
