Create 3 Focal Point Prints in 3 weeks

I am so gutted that I was sick during the last week of the workshop. Because of that I have just managed to finish 1 collection (Bunny and Friends) before the due date.  I will gradually upload the designs of other collections on to my project.  Thank you so so much for Bonnie's invaluable comments and lovely comments from the peers.  I have learn heaps from the course and will definitely going to enroll for more in the future.

Hi, I am Maggie from New Zealand. I am a Town Planner turned Illustrator/Surface Pattern designer.  I enrolled this course to further improve my skills in surface pattern design.

3 Focal Point Prints:

I have created 3 pattern collections with 3 completely different themes.

1. Succulent Love

  • Sketches:

  • Focal Point Print

I have made a few changes to my original version of the focal point print for Succulent Love.  Following is 2 versions of the print and the last one is a different colorway to the 2nd version.  I think I just created too many small motifs and the pattern is quite busy.  I may make another change to the print in the future, who knows, but I like how they turn out for now.

The images of my sketches are so big that they taken up a great amount of space in my laptop and slowed me down the process of my design when I was working with Illustrator.  Anyway, I have finally got my design down.  Here is a couple of colorways of the design:

I can't really decide which colorway I should be using for the focal point print for this Whimsical Garden collection.  So, here it is, I have chosen 3 of many favorites.  I don't normally fall in love with purple or lilac, but these colors seem to fit perfectly to the theme and they do give the print some whimsical feels to it.  And, I am a sucker to turquoise.
