Colosseum Conundrum

So I started off with a couple of different photots as the bases, but one of the Colosseum facade (on a study abroad trip to Florence, I took it on a weekend visit to Rome) struck me the most because it worked best with the hexagonal pattern I wanted to use.

I played around with different shapes and arrangements and such, then came up with the following list of treatments (sounds kind of appropriate, right?)

  • A super subtle white gradient overlay on the background image
  • Adjusted curves to increase contrast of background image
  • Increased both exposure and contrast
  • Reduced the mask opacity of the triangles to 95 and feathered the edges
