Color Palettes

Hi everyone!

Well, this is my first class and the first project I post. So exiting!

This is my first palette.

I'm a huge fan of Lomography, an analogue and artistic photography movement loved by much people these days.

Seeing as Bike Book's public and lomography lovers have a lot of characteristics in common (i.e. analogue over digital, art, artisanal products, and technology), I thought it would be interesting basing my palette on one lomography picture.

I chose this photo because of the bikes (very convenient) and because of the soft and warm tones this roll gave me when I shoot it back in 2013, which I think suit well with Bike Book's style.

For my second palette I wanted to play with some intense tones, so I researched over stock images websites to find inspiration. I found this photograph and loved the mint green of the bike, so I decided to pick it as a reference.

I think the earth tones combine strikingly with the mint green because of the contrast created in their juxtaposition. The brown brings a serious tone, combined with that yellow with gold shades, so the green brings that bit of dynamism by breaking with the warmest tones.

Thank you so much Geri, I really enjoyed this class. I took it as part of the 30-Day Bootcamp: Fundamentals of Designing On the Web, but I'm moving forward the next class because I want to master (or at least try) color on the web :)
