Coffee Crate Packing Label

Introduction:

After watching the first three videos, and developing a full page of notes, thoughts, inspirational ideas, I decided I would upload what I have so far.

The project that I decided to work on is for a local Tampa based coffee company, called Commune and Co.  This company was started by one of my friends, and has taken off extremely well.  His company does not have an actual brick and mortar store.  Yes that I right, his entire job is selling his coffee from a bike; more specifically, a tricycle. He converted a trike, to hold a keg and a tap. He rides around Ybor City, and sells nitro-brewed coffee off of his trike.

Because He dose not have a storefront, creating a memorable brand is very important. I have chose to design a product label for the wooden crate that he has strapped to the back of his trike, that is full of bottles of coffee. This design need to be eye catching, easy to remember, and has to be relatable to the rest of his lettering and design on the trike.

My inspiration for my project has come from many things. The most important, is the 40’s packing label from my grandmothers family orange packing company. I absolutely love the old labels, and see so much potential in them; especially because they were used on wooden crate that held the oranges. Additionally I have found ideas from old coffee poster signs. Along with the vintage products, I also need to tie in some modern flare to my design. I would like to include a center focal point, clean lines were applicable, and possibly an illustration.

Now while the thoughts are flowing, I am going to start my mood board, with some rough sketches!
