Elizabeth, your class saved me! I agreed to illustrate some icons for Creative Mornings DC, and then make a pattern out of it—but I had never made a pattern before :-).

I wrote a short blog post about my process, and what this pattern is all about for the DC Creative Mornings community here. 

Here are a few of my early sketches:

After inking the drawings and bringing them into Illustrator, I started playing with the shapes.

This is the final pattern block. It took a few attempts to get the balance right!

And here is the repeat. It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun—I'm inspired to try more patterns now!
