Thank you Cat for another great class! I love painting fruit and florals, but usually I paint them in a more realistic style. I enjoyed delving into this style for a change! I particularly like oranges and lemons, so I chose the citrus for my class project.
At first your painting style looks pretty easy... oh well I should say simple, because it is not easy! Straight lines have never been my forte, and painting leaving this thin white space is quite hard. It is easier to me to just wait for one layer to dry, then come back to it.
So this is how it looked like at first:
then I used white gouache to separate the 'mistakes' areas, because there were more than one or two! I had messed up all 3 oranges. Not sure though, which version is better?
