Today I had a bad day at work, and I decided to watch this class while eating a late lunch. Jamie's tutorial on horizontal and vertical anchor points got me so excited that I stopped what I was doing and tried to hand letter myself a little pick-me-up that said "Chin Up". My annoying day at work had put me in a negative state of mind, and I doubted my ability to a) hand letter a phrase that looked nice and b) get smooth enough anchor points to make a presentable final product. SO happy I decided to do it anyway.

I followed Jamie's workflow and started by drawing individual letter styles that I liked, then narrowed it down from there. I tried a few variations before tracing some that I liked

Setting up the guides really helped me improve and clean up the look of my sketched letters.

I was able to create these letters with all horizontal anchor point handles, save for one point where I needed a 45' set of handles, and of course the anchor points that had no handles at all.

I then took what I learned in one of Jamie's other amazing classes to add some texture and interest to the final piece.

Thank you so much for this amazing little class, Jamie! It did wonders for what was almost written off as a bad day.
