Amazing Class. I learned so much!

My mind map ended up being a male teenage bird, that is tall, bashful and bored sitting on a clothes line.

I did two images for each category of inspiration. I really liked the colors of the big bird and the spots and lines on the bug. This exercise made me look at images closer to find out what I liked about them: color, texture, patterns.

I wasn't too sure about this step, I was going to skip it but playing around with just the shape made me think beyond my initial ideas.

Coming up with different beaks, crest and tails was interesting.

I tried to stay true to the inspiration colors, I liked the blue/gray bird the best but felt it was too plain. I used some of the patterns and textures from the other birds in my final piece.

My original thought was to have the bird on a clothes line, but I didn't feel that was right with this style of bird. I like the idea of him being in a pond checking his phone (because that's what every teenage is usually doing).
