Scene in the present (Hope, the protag, at 14)

We exit the Portal and step onto the new plane. I hear many pleasant sounding tinklings, like the sounds of Mom’s windchimes, and remember how much I miss being home. Teacher with a tentacle quickly snatches something from the air and shows it to me. It looks like a small clear crystal but it’s moving, constantly changing shape and every time it changes it makes a tinkling sound. Teacher then throws the crystal into the air where it disappears.

Scene in the present (Teacher, the antags, point of view)

I despise Melodia Plane; the constant chatter of the elements is annoying. Yet here I am again, just to instruct a human. Still, if she manages to learn her lessons thoroughly none of my tolerating her presence will have been in vain. I will first teach her of Air. Air, with its song that incessantly stabs at my consciousness. Air, with its mockery of solids and shapeshifting. ARGH! She is watching me now. I should begin.
