Hwy 1 north of Santa Cruz is so dynamic. Only with repetition can you understand how much light and weather affect a landscape. The first few times I was on Hwy 1 was in the afternoon hours closer to sunset. I decided to head out at dawn to watch the sunrise over the Santa Cruz mountains. These photos were taken on that morning that was filled with fog and a light rain from sunrise to 9:00. Then as I continued south, the fog lifted and the skies became blue. Being from the east coast, I'm still getting used to seeing the sun come up on the opposite side of the landscape.
