Cathedral, Raymond Carver

So I chose Raymond Carver's Cathedral, which is actually a collection of short stories. It was super fun to work with and if you haven't read it you should. A blind man comes to visit this guy and his wife, and although the protagonist doesn't like the blind man, is perhaps even jealous he is forced to host him. There was lots of imagery I thought of using, they eat strawberry pie, drink scotch, watch TV... But one quote stuck out to me:

"I remembered having read somewhere that the blind didn't smoke because, as speculation had it, they couldn't see the smoke they exhaled. I thought I knew that much and that much only about blind people. But this blind man smoked his cigarette down to the nubbin and then lit another one. This blind man filled his ashtray and my wife emptied it."

I actually watercolored the first draft of this because, I'm much more used to that as a media so here's the rough in case you were curious.
