Castolon, Big Bend National Park, Texas, USA

About 8 hours into an electrical blackout, I dragged my cot outside to sleep, and suddenly realized that this was a rare opportunity to take this photo...normally, the base of the cliffs behind me are lit up by the street lights of the small Mexican pueblo across the river; with the black out, though, I could try getting the cliffs and the stars. I wanted to check my camera and settings and the instructions...but, no lights, no internet, so I did what I could remember. set it the remote to take exposures, took about six before I HAD to go to sleep.... Exposure was a bit long (69 seconds), ISO 1600, f/4.0, 10 mm Canon T2i.  Will re read lessons and practice more; it's a bad time, right now, with cloud cover and rattlesnakes, but will keep trying....
