Capturing Cuteness! How to Make Cute Critters - student project

Current Status: recording audio, creating visuals.

Images for Capturing Cuteness are still in DRAFT.

In this class students will learn to draw cute critters. They will learn the pseudo-science behind why humans think certain animals are cute, and how to implement this strategy in their project. The project is for the artist to choose an endangered creature and 'cute-ify' them using the strategies learned in the class. The purpose of the project is twofold 1) you learn how to illustrate cute critters and 2) together we highlight endangered species that don't get a lot of attention.

Capturing Cuteness (<--- link to outline)

Learn to draw cute creatures and help bring attention to endangered species using your new skill.

This class is about drawing cute, kawaii, adorable, critters.

Students will learn basic strategies on how to create cuteness based on years of experience painting, illustrating, and making cute animals. Apply these strategies to animals or insects that may or may not be perceived as cute in their natural state, but still deserve our love as co-inhabitants of this planet and bring attention to their endangered state.

Class Project: Create a cute critter illustration highlighting an endangered species.

Students create a postcard, poster, or illustration in any medium to highlight an endangered species (mammal, reptile, insect, etc.) that might otherwise be ignored because they are not considered cute enough to save.
