VIRAL MAP

The Viral Map

1. List all major “players” in the system (eg. a marketplace may have two major players: buyers & sellers)

  • Cancer Survivors( this makes me very uncomfortable)
  • Relatives and Friends of Cancer Survivors
  • Cancer Researchers and Scientists
  • Small Time Philanthropists
  • Startup Biotechnology
  • Cancer patient advocates
  • Universities /Technology Transfer Officers and Business Development
  • Men an women of the general public and of goodwill
  • Crowd funding enthusiasts
  • Critics of the existing drug discovery and manufacturing system
  • Critics of Big Pharma and Big Biotech
  • The Small Business Administration
  • The National Cancer Institute
  • Venture Capitalist

2. List out any selfish reasons why each player would need their contacts/friends to join the service

  • Cancer Survivors-they know how the present drugs work, the limitations, the face relapse, and would want to continue to support not just research, but commercialization of new and better drugs and alternatives
  • Relatives and Friends of Cancer Survivors-They like patient of cancer, both survivors and those who did not make it also understand the limitations of the existing regimen of therapies and drugs and are more likely to want to make a difference
  • Cancer Researchers/Scientist/Startup Biotechs/ Universities /Technology Transfer Officers and Business Development

-Their passion is often met with the reality of scarce resources. Other than cancer patients, they know and face the reality of the range of therapies that exist today and the possibilities of tomorrow. Take for example new sciences that Big Pharma and Big Biotech are not necessarily interested in today-cancer stem cells, EMT, etc.

  • Small Time Philanthropist- When people think of philanthropy they think of people like Bill Gates, and very wealthy people. In the case of Cancer Mob, a $20 donation puts you on our wall of FAME-PM-Philanthropist Mobsters.
  • Patient/Diseases Advocacy Groups-they normally fund research. But they are beginning to look for a greater ROI-bring the research to the bedside and patient and bring it faster. Today a  lot of research disappears into a black hole.

3. List out all things you could possibly make each player support the service

  • Cancer Survivors( this makes me very uncomfortable)
    • Looking for  better cure
    • Helping others who will be their position in the future
    • Legacy-make a difference
    • Relatives and Friends of Cancer Survivors
      • Do something instead of being helpless
      • Fell useful and make a difference
      • Cancer Researchers and Scientists ( t
        • They want to move their science out the lab
        • Give a finger to industry/VC who are only focused on profits
        • Legacy-
        • CURE cancer
        • Help other scientist
        • Small Time Philanthropists
          • Legacy
          • Make a difference
          • It not a lot to be a philanthropist

  • Startup Biotechnology
    • They need to look for alternatives to raise money to avoid death of their science
    • Cancer patient advocates
      • Looking for cures for their membership
      •
      • Universities /Technology Transfer Officers and Business Development
        • Alternative ways to raise money other than the traditional
        • Get the word out on what is happening in their offices

  • Men an women of the general public and of goodwill
    • thinking
    • Crowd funding enthusiasts
      • For the heck of it
      • Legacy-to make a difference
      • Critics of the existing drug discovery and manufacturing system
        • To make the point that it is possible to have another alternative
        • Critics of Big Pharma and Big Biotech
          • To show are alternatives to the existing paradigm
          • The Small Business Administration
            • Lot of great grant application for commercialization that does not get funded
            • The National Cancer Institute
              • Lot of great science that does not get funded
              • Venture Capitalist
                • Heck, it is another way to spot great fundable science

Title: If you could cure cancer for $20

This year alone, over a half a million Americans will die of cancer; that’s over 1,500 per day. The second leading cause of death among Americans, one in three women and one in two men will develop cancer over the course of their lifetime.

With all the advancements in cancer care and treatments, there are millions of people in the US and worldwide who are still handed the news of a death sentence every day because there are simply no therapies that either extend lives or provide a life worth living in those final months. Let me give you an example. This and every year, about 45,000 people will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and 38,000 will die. Ninety-five percent of these patients will be dead in five years, and a majority will be dead in first six months after diagnosis.

Cancer Mob is a crowd-sourcing website to help small biotechnology companies raise money to fund the commercialization of their research to bring new cancer-treatment drugs to market faster. For those of who know Kickstarter.com or Indiegogo.com, think of Cancer Mob as the Indiegogo/Kickstarter of cancer drug commercialization.

So, I implore you to join us. I implore you to get your friends to join us. Like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter. Commit $20 to one of our startups, or commit $20 each to more than one startup, or a $100, or a $1000.  Then, tell your friends, siblings, neighbors, colleagues, synagogue, mosque, or church members about Cancer Mob and get them to join.
