Camp Cale Combustion

I have recently been hired as a part time Director of Marketing and Development for Camp Cale, a camp and conference center of the Chowan Baptist Association, located on the Perquimans River in Perquimans County near Hertford, NC. Camp Cale is located in Northeaster, NC within thirty minutes of Elizabeth City.

Our summer program includes providing three, week long, Christian, summer camping experience for second through sixth graders and another three, week long campsfor teens.  Additionally, throughout the rest of theyear, the camp and conference center facilities are available to church, school and business groups for a variety of meetings, training sessions aact events.

My objectives for this position:

1. Increase the utilization of the facility in order to drive revenue growth.

  • Integrate the Run for Mukhanyo into the summer camping program.  This serves several objectives: 1) It supports the camping theme of involving young people in Christian missions, 2) It provides a vehicle for exciting parents and grandparents about the impact of Camp Cale by demonstrating the development of Christian character as kids get involved in serving others, namely, the orphans and vulnerable children of Mukhanyo Christian Academy in South Africa. Because it gets parents and grandparents excited it opens the door to penetrating the market where development money resides.  And 3) it provides a source of revenues for Camp Cale in that 20% of the money reaised is returned to Camp Cale.
  • Act as an inexpensive resource for the 68 supporting churches of Camp Cale by providing continuing education programs for pastors, sunday school teachers, church officers,etc. 
  • Advertise and promote the use of the facility for outside groups such as schools and businesses for meetings and training.   Host introductory events for Chambers of Commerce, school and business personnel in order to discuss and identify ways in which Camp Cale 

2. Network in the community and with the supporting churches of the Chowan Baptist Association in order to identify institutional and individual donors.

  • Meet with and interview the pastors of the 68 churches in order to obtain information regarding their needs and what Camp Cale could do to be responsive to those needs

3. Explore and identify foundations that are open to giving grants for our ministry and prepare grant proposals.
