Hi Jean, your courses are always excellent, and this one is no exception, but I am not very happy with my result here yet. Perhaps you can advise? I am posting my reference photo, the first resulting painting and a computer manipulated version closer the the result I was hoping for. Note that I had no granulation medium here with me on holiday, a location where many Californian poppies grow, so I used rock salt and gauze to try to generate interesting textures for the rocks. But more fundamentally, I think the colour intensity and hence the contrast between flowers and background is too low with my conventional (mostly Windsor & Newton) watercolours, hence my decision to try to delineate the flowers better with watercolour pencils. However, I do not think that improved things sufficiently. So I am considering repeating this piece with my Dr Ph. Marten’s liquid watercolours, perhaps softened with some tube paints mixed in. What do you think? Thanks in advance, Ariel.
