Just wanted to say this is a great course. I feel it's very well explained and engaging.
So, for my own project, I will be redesigning the Milwaukee Bucks (NBA) logo:
For starters, I found some reference images:
Then I did a really rough simple stroke sketch:
Then I proceeded to Bold Lines and Negative space part:
Obviously I wasn't very excited about my logo at this point, so then I made quite a bit of modifications/corrections to the shape to make it look more like a deer. I also picked out a shield shape to put my Buck in.
Some more modifications before moving on to incorporating a basketball, adding color and shading.
After this versions I've incorporated a basketball into the shape and fused it with Buck's antlers. I also added color (which in turn made the basketball look like a sun), shading and this is the final vector outcome with some photoshop effects:
Edit: Some people pointed out that this might be too scary looking, so I made a simpler, less frightening version too:
