Bruxelles, Ma Belle

Bruxelles, Ma Belle is all about sharing stories.

The project is directed to whoever goes to Brussels for the first time ever, and would like some insiders' advice on what to see, where to eat, and of course, where to drink a sample of our delicious national product: beer! But let's be honest, I also mostly do it for fun :)

Why am I the expert? And who is it directed to?

I have lived in Brussels for two years while being a student. Hence, I had loooooads of time to explore places and pick my fav. Moreover, Brussels is a crossroads of cultures. This is why lots of my friends go there in holidays, internships or even to settle there, and ask me everytime: "What should I see? Tell me, where should I go?". I don't want to give them the toursitic speech; I would like to share with them my favorite places in the city.

How is the project going?

My idea is to create a very visual, somewhat playful map that I could send to those who would like some inspiration on what to do in Brussels. I would be very happy to have your feedback along the project :)

Hand-drawn trial

Here are some hand drawn drafts I made for the first lesson, based around Oxford

The Bremen vs. Abstract artists quizz: Yessss I got 75%! Go me! :)

Inspiration

I gather maps that inspire me on my Pinterest folder, that you are most welcome to browse (although so far it mostly comes out of Anne's Pinterest!). http://pinterest.com/jbaleria/maps/

Imaginary city exercise

Totally imaginary...

... and now, "une ébauche" of the real center of Brussels

Gosh, I am really struggling on Illustrator! What do you think is the best software to use? (I am a bit lost on Photoshop as well, ugh).
