Brush and pen Ink Illustrations

Brush and pen Ink Illustrations - student project

Okay, I decided to do two illustrations instead of one, both showing different techniques.

For the first one, I sketched a portrait style drawing for the illustration.

As for the techniques, I painted the background with a paintbrush and the rest was done with a spoon nib by Nikko with a Tachikawa nib holder. I was trying to make a little creepy but I didn't want to exaggerate a lot with the lines and Crosshatching, so I left it as it is.

The second sketch is of a girl and a cut out background of stars.

With this it was purely with ink and brushes. I did a small mistake on her arm, but it doesn't look like a mistake, so I just left it there.

I found ink challenging when it comes to layers for the background, but overall I really like ink as a drawing medium and hope to get better at it :)
