Hi Debi, I just started to watch your class and made the first exercises. I love the very clear and easy to follow instructions and also the really great practice sheets. I printed them out and tried various brush pens I own. What I found was that the soft brush pens are more suited for big writing or letters. I have the pentel brush pen (sign pen) which is a bit sturdier and I find it is more suitable for smaller writing or letters.
At the moment I struggle with the "carotts" as you call those strokes. They aren't tapered down centerd. They taper down always on the right side of the stroke. And also with most strokes the edges are ragged and not smooth as seen in your sheets. Do you have any tips on both these issues?
Today I started to trace the lower case letters. I treid three different brush pens. At the moment I'm still using tracing paper so the letters should look quite similar to yours. The goal is after some days of tracing and building muscel memory I'll try to write on my own.
Tomorrow I'm going to write the capital letters.
edit: Today I wrote the upper case letters again with the three different brush pens. Since the upper case letters are bigger than the lower case letters the Sigma Pen SB57 was too thin and that's why I tried the SB58 which was thicker but too soft for my liking. The Pentel sign Pen was the best for those upper case letters although the Faber Castel is never wrong. :-) Oh and I show the pages in the same order I made them.
I think it will be interesting to see how I'm doing when writing on my own. Which I'll try next.
