I worked through this course as part of a creative excursive to build my stock photography business at www.studiobeacreative.com. It was helpful to run through how to style a flatlay from an alternative perspective.
I did a couple of different shots, with the first theme being Bohemian Accessories. I thought the colorful rug added a nice pop of color, but I toned it down with the soft white rug layed on tip. A couple of coordinating accessories in complimentary colors and I ended with the shot below:
Next, I moved into the kitchen for this image:
My theme was centered around cooking, and I wanted to give a fresh, modern sense to the image while allowing for a pop of color from the cookbook. The round rim of the bowl and the straight lines of the towel add nice visual interest. I also purposefully used the various natural materials - marble, slate, wood, tall grass - to lend a bit of a natural feel.
