I've completed four repeats for this collection. I'll be honest, two of them were already done (Santa Ana Winds and Chirp.) Busy Bears and Smell the flowers I put together today. I'm going to work over the weekend on creating more and possibly changes the existing one's, especially if I get some constructive feedback. Please let me know what you all think so far.
1. Smell the Flowers
2. Busy Bears
3 Santa Ana winds
I still have several motifs to illustrate and I also intend on tweaking some of the motifs included but wanted to post these so that I'm not behind again. I know they're due tomorrow but I wanted to get them posted tonight. I'm not sure I'll stick with this color palette or change it. We'll see. Feed back is greatly appreciated.
I have no drawing skills AT ALL, so generally I go straight to Adobe Draw and start my motif sketching there. Below is a snap shot of what I've come up with so far. Sketching digitally also helps me to simplify my process of creating motifs in Illustrator, although bringing sketches from Draw to Illustrator does have it's own sets of challenges I'll admit. The actual drawn sketches you see are intended more for collection ideas and motif layout.
I hope I'm on the right track now. I'm usually not so clumsy when it comes to navigating site's but am having trouble with this. That said, I'm hoping I've got this figured out.
Okay, the theme of my collection is Birds and Bears, A California May. Ten (or more) words: birds, bears, wildlife, wildflowers, refreshing, sunny, warm, beach, mountains, colorful, happy, bright
Story: It's May in California. Although it already feels like summer, beach days, warm hikes in the mountains, pic-nics at the park, technically it's still Spring. There are abundant reminders of Spring too, rainbow colored fields of flowers bursting into bloom, bees there regular guests, birds fluttering and chipping, singing a beautiful song. Even the local bears have become active again, munching on fat juicy berries while nestled among the sweet smelling blankets of wild flowers. Showers are a regular event, bringing blessings of new growth on the lush green hillsides surrounding me. All of this beauty is a reminder of the abundance and goodness that May in California is to me.
