Bird Crimes

Bird Crimes - student project

 Exercise 1 - Inspiration

I currently have a very linear style influenced by my background in fine art and drawing, and I'd like to start moving away from that towards something more bold, colorful, and graphic

Exercise 2 - Inventory

My own current style, split into two sections. Section 1- the linear, fine art style I mentioned before. Influenced by classical art and my drawing style, there's a lot of detail but not enough to make it a full composed piece.

Section 2 is a little more recent, with me exploring more into flatter, simpler shapes and brighter colors. Humor shows through a bit more here as well, since I'm not directly referencing a sculpture or painting.

I think for this project, I'm going to expand on Section 2

PROJECT

I actually struggled a lot to get my footing on this project- I think my style inspiration was just too far from my current style to create a natural segue into something like that.

I eventually decided on a more hybrid style between my own and the flatter colors, limiting my color palette to allow myself space to figure out how to use color and line.

My project is The Little Book of Bird Crimes, and I want the context to be almost like a children's alphabet book.
