Be Accountable!

I'm a senior engineering student who's about to graduate, and while I've loved college it has been four years of little to no sleep, tons of caffeine at all hours, and TBRs. Thanks to some truly great roommates my junior year, I started working out for the first time in my life and learned how great it makes me feel physically and mentally.

I joined Fitocracy a little over a year ago and I've stuck with working out 4-6 times a week. While I cook nearly all of my meals, generally pretty healthy, I haven't been able to break the habit of joining in whenever someone wants to go on a late-night food run or absentmindedly snacking while studying. The most difficult thing for me in being health-conscious is drinking, since I go out with my friends four or five times a week and not only are there beer/shots/drinks, there's free chips or other snack food.

I want to find the a balance that works between my social life, doing well in classes, and working on feeling good physically. I'll have the opportunity to 'start over' again this summer when I move and begin my full-time job, and overall I just want to be satisfied with myself by then.

Goals I want to keep myself accountable for:

  • Continue buying/cooking healthy meals that make me feel good about eating them.
  • Keep in mind how much I eat out with friends, and try to limit late-night food; figure out being social without feeling obligated to eat.
  • Start lifting! I'm one of those girls who's always been a little intimidated, and that's just silly.
  • Know when to limit myself when it comes to my knees - missing part of a workout is worth not fully tearing my MCLs!
  • Learn to recognize my progress and not get pissed when I can't see it; focus on how far I've come instead of the day-to-day.
