Backyard Gardens to Community Gardens

I typically grow Herbs: Basil, Chives, Rosemary, Oregano, lavender

Vegetables: Tomatoes, peppers, green beans, zucchini, mixed lettuce, spinach, carrots, cantalope, and strawberries

Flowers: Lilac, roses, peonies, hydrangea, grapevine and annuals

My first year gardening I went the Miracle Grow route. Now I garden organically. I don't have raised beds.  I would still consider myself a novice. I understand the importance of soil, water and light conditions to what I grow but I feel I don't really understand it well enough to put it into practice. I'm hoping to learn that here.

Currently I share my garden with a few familiy and friends. I have enough so that we all have bounty during the growing season. I would like to learn how to freeze and can to preserve my harvest.

I want to take my gardening to the next level. I want to be able to provide my neighborhood with fresh vegetables and be able to network with other neighborhood gardeners. I want to be able to start a community garden or a Backyard farm CSA program. I'm not sure how to get it started.

Last year I tried the square foot gardening method. It seemed to be succesful for me. We had a really hot, humid and very little rain kind of summer. I would like to learn more about protecting my plants during these conditions by using row  covers.
