Baby Jones Nursery

We're expecting our first baby this fall, and decided early on that we would not find out the gender. Our home is a very traditionally built Dutch Colonial with original woodwork, which we decorate in a fairly modern style, with lots of color and natural textiles. I purchased these few pieces very early on in my pregnancy (or perhaps even before?) so am using them as my inspiration.

I loved the idea of colors with a vintage feel, and of using nature as a very loose theme for the decor, so the national parks poster was my first purchase. The fabrics came later - I recently made curtains out of the birch tree one, and just received the elk fabric from Etsy for a throw pillow on the rocker.

In selecting the colors for my palette, I ruled out any that seemed too strongly gendered (such as the peach or tan background in the print, and the pink in the elk fabric), and stuck to blues, greens and oranges, which are more present in the rest of our home as well. The brown from the print gives me a dark wood tone that goes well with the dark woodwork throughout our home, and the gray and ivory give more nice neutrals to balance out the bright colors.
