Step 1: Establish Your Voice. Complete the following actions to determine how you're going to present yourself to your audience:
Who am I? Create a list of 3-5 of your most dominant positive personal traits - characteristics that make you uniquely you.
- Balanced- able to see multiple sides to an argument or topic - Goal-oriented - Light-hearted - Humourous
What do I have to offer? Create a list of 1-3 services or skills you can offer to your audience. You don't have to offer all three, this is just to give you options.
- Book Reviews per week - Overall discussions on research in the market - Parodies of things common in the writing world
Merge 'em! Prepare a statement explaining how you plan to merge your personality and your services/skillset, thus making your author platform one of a kind.
Through my platform, I would like to create a lighthearted podcast (because I hate being on camera and writing in blog form is ... ugh for me). On this podcast, I would like to have a discussion through what's been going on in the writing and publishing community as well as a few humorous takes on it as a whole.
Step 2: Create a content game plan. Narrow down the Who, What, Where, When, and How for your platform:
Whois your target audience? My target audience is people who have no clue what they are doing (me!). However, to be more specific, my target audience is for adult and young adult readers of fantasy and sci-fi.
Whatservice are you offering? I will offer news updates, talk about and discussions that are coming up and upcoming releases. I will also (on other social media) - offer to create hilarious memes and other parodies.
Whereare you going to post your content? Podcast, YouTube to begin with Other Social media will focus on Twitter and Instagram
Whenare you going to post your content? Bi-weekly, but on other media at least one post a day.
Howare you going to spread the word? Social Media, Twitter and Instagram mostly with some also on Tumblr and Pinterest
