Audrey.

I chose, instead of an ad, the Breakfast at Tiffany's movie poster. I'm a little weary about whether or not I'll be able to recreate this, but just starting watching the videos and am already picking up some great tips. I've used Illustrator for a few years now at times, but not to a great extent. I don't know how to use most of the tools so I'm looking forward to learning this program more.

Here is the poster I will try to recreate:

I finished unit 1 today and just worked on my poster for a little bit. I was really unsure about how I was going to recreate most of this poster, but once Brad introduced the blob tool, I knew I'd be able to do it. Not sure what version of Illustrator this tool was introduced in, but it's really great. I have version 5.1 by the way. So right after I finished the last video of unit 1, I got to work on Audrey's dress and gloves. Here's what I've got so far:

I'm going to continue with the rest of the poster using the blob tool and maybe some brushes on the cat and on her hair. And then once I get into unit 2, I can add in some textures and fix up the color a bit.

7/11 I started messing around with my Wacom tablet a bit. I've never used it much but I figured this would be a good time to learn how to use it. And it was so much easier to draw the cat using it rather than using the mouse or touchpad! All I need to do is Audrey's jewelry and the type. I'll be starting Unit 2 today, and then I can add some texture to make the poster look more vintage.

8/13 Work has been crazy but I finally got around to finishing up my poster. First I started with Audrey's necklace, earrings, and hair clip. This lady knows about statement jewelry. And then I finished up with the type. Since these old posters were done by hand, I'm not sure if the type was based on an actual typefaces or not, but I found a couple of similar ones. And here is the finished product:

I am very happy with how it turned out and glad that I got to learn how to use my Wacom tablet better as well. Let me know what you think of my poster and how I can improve it!
