Artful Florals: Advanced Techniques for Centerpiece Design

Artful Florals: Advanced Techniques for Centerpiece Design - student project

I wasn't actually PLANNING to do this one yesterday, but I went to Trader Joe's and they had 2 of my favorites: Chamomile flowers and Butterfly Ranunculus! So... off I went.  I ended up going to another market to get the peach rose with dark red on the outside - and they weren't the freshest, but the price was right and I was eager to make this one!  I really tried to pull color from each flower.  Loved noticing how the middle of the butterfly ranunculus even pulled color to the rose and the tips of the rose, to the dahlias.  The one thing I really took from watching you was not to completely strip each flower of all it's leaves.  I had been doing that before and now am embracing the beauty of it's natural leaves too.  The idea of making it on a lazy susan definitely changed my game too - I was always turning it around making sure I didn't make a "front" or a "back" this time.  I still ended up with SIDES... so wasn't sure if that was okay, but I really love it!  Thank you for inspiring me!  I do see some gaps I would have liked to fill, but I used every flower I bought. Next time when I go to the actual flower mart, I'll have lots more to play with!  I'll post another photo of my next go at it!  Artful Florals: Advanced Techniques for Centerpiece Design - image 1 - student projectArtful Florals: Advanced Techniques for Centerpiece Design - image 2 - student project
