I loved this book as a child and re-read it recently.
What sort of audience is this book cover design catered to?
I decided children, most likely female, 9-14 - a good-quality (Not quite collector, but still with nice foil accents) hardcover.
Here was the list I came up with - There is so much imagery in this book! It was hard to choose symbolic motifs, because there are quite a few that could've worked.
I wanted to aim for a classic palette that suited the book. Either a blue or a green - but considering it's 'Green Gables', I kept going back to the green. I even tried pink at one point, but it didn't work so well even as an accent.
Although the books are set in late 1800s, my book cover ended up having a much more 20's feel.
...And that's what I ended up with!
This is the first project I've ever done for skillshare.
Thanks Jessica for a fantastic and inspiring class!!
