I drew this sketch of one of my favorite Animal Crossing villagers, Pate, a few months ago to prove to myself that yes, I could draw when I was going through a "I'm not good enough, why even bother" crisis.
I had to outline the sketch with black ink. The first scan I did of just the pencil sketch wouldn't show up well enough, even after I tried cleaning it up in Photoshop. Good thing I'm happy with my Pate in my sketchbook. :)
Cleaned up the document and connected a few missing lines.
Decided she looked better without the black outline, so I traced the black lines with the corresponding color to clean up the edges.
Added shading and used various brushes to give her a little more texture. I really like the way she turned out, but she still feels...flat. In fact, all of my drawings/paintings feel flat. I'd love suggestions on how to bring them more to life. :)
Thank you for the wonderful class! I learned a lot about working in Photoshop and am excited to continue my digital art learning experiences. I've loved looking for new brushes and playing with them! :D
