An exercise of cool and warm

An exercise of cool and warm - student project

After struggling for a while with my paintings I realised that what I was missing was exactly the difference in temperature between light and shade. I never purposefully made shaded parts cooler. Instead I focused only on making them darker and I couldn't figure out on my paintings were not coming together like they should have. I hope you don't mind but I went with your exact reference photo and followed your painting process step by step to see if I could come to the similar result colour and temperature wise:) I don't like the human silhouette there, I can't ever seem to get them right. My brushwork in still not quite there yet and I paint with acrylics not oils but the biggest improvement for me was this cold warm relationship! Thank you so much, this is exactly what I needed from a class like this so I look forward to new ones:)  I would love to hear your opinion on this!
