Amigurumi for Creators

Amigurumi Tips and Tricks!

I guess I'm a little late in adding a new project as a milestone.. but I guess it's better late than never! So here goes.

I'm a Amigurumi Artist, and I've started my amigurumi journey since 2013. Actually I was first introduced to crochet when I was 15 years old (back in 2007) during my middle school years for an art project but I never really know the full potential of crochet.. Until I discovered amigurumi a few  years later. And I have been actively pursuing to hone my skills since the amazing discovery.

Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, usually cute stuffed animals and anthropomorphic creatures. The word is a portmanteau of the Japanese words ami, meaning crocheted or knitted, and nuigurumi, meaning stuffed doll.

For my first class, I'm going to cover a small introduction about essential tools and a few techniques that I use for every amigurumi projects

My first draft of my Class Outline is done!
Amigurumi Tips and Tricks Class Outline

Important techniques I'm planning to explain in this class:

  • Magic Ring.
  • Invisible decrease
  • Joined Round Method
  • Continous Round Method
  • Right side and Wrong side
  • Ultimate finish (for 6sc)
  • Joining Amigurumi Parts

A real-life example from my own experience are these two Pikachus that I have made. The Pikachu head on the left was my first pattern ever that I have designed and created in year 2014. The left one is recently re-designed (2016), This is the result of constant research and practice of my crochet and amigurumi making skills. I've gone through a lot of projects to learn the best techniques! As you can see the holes are not that visible and the shape is a bit more geometrical. So, I'm hoping to share these tips and tricks I have collected throughout those years to all crocheter enthusiasts out there!
