Action Figure

I decided to draw an ice skater and after a few different sketches, I chose the one below to refine.

Figure From Memory

At first, I found drawing from memory quite difficult, but after tracing it a few times I think this process is great for helping to bring out your own style and making the figure more expressive.

I really enjoyed this part of the project and chose to draw people doing aerobics in the 1980s. I did my last sketch in Procreate and rearranged the figures in there.

People in Shapes

I tried quite a few shapes and sketches for this part of the project. I've never tried drawing figures like this before and I thought it was so interesting, it really made you think differently and the figures became something else entirely. This is the sketch I chose for my bonus project.

I would definitely try this process again! It was quite difficult at first, but the outcome is really rewarding and the figures I cut out have so much energy. I think I'll try drawing them in Procreate next and see how they look.

Exaggerated Figure

For this task, it took me a long time to decide on a sketch I was happy with. I initially wanted to draw a small figure with a large object, but in the end, I chose the sketch below. I would like to work on this image more in the future and try and make it look more exaggerated.

I loved taking part in this class and feel like I've gained much more confidence when it comes to drawing expressive figures.  I've learned so much and will definitely use these techniques in the future. Thanks so much Tom!
