Affording mental nourishment

I love succulents! I like how their fleshy leaves/pedels and gnarly stems create interesting shapes.

Here is the evolution of my first project - I hope you like.

INSPIRATION PHOTOGRAPHY & COLOUR PALETTE
All photography is my own source, from my neighbourhood and one from travels. I love all colours so found it particularly hard to narrow down a palette... when I came to switching colours on the pattern I had lots of really ugly combos so hope to get better with practice.

SKETCHES & VECTOR
I sketched directly from the garden with the excepton of three - one was live traced and two traced over photo. I am not sure about the effect live trace gives when colouring an image, its obviously a much different result to flat colour and I wasn't sure it would work in the pattern but is good to experiment with different techniques!

FINAL PATTERNS
I tied both techniques Bonnie showed us - filled space vs nestled bouquet. My bouquet somehow became a hexagon shape lol I preferred Bonnie's more "organic" bouquet for a  nestled pattern - I think the hexagon pattern maybe too distracting.

Thank you for sharing your secrets Bonnie! I especially liked your process - how we start out with the pure inspiration and letting the end result become what it will. I didn't think my sketches were very good but when I put the patterns together I got a surprise :) I am WAY at the beginning of my journey so have alot of practice to do now!

If anyone out there has some fun, different techiques and/or classes that you recommend please share - I want to experiment with everything!

Thank you!
