Addictive Cosmetics

(I am a complete design newbie, but it's something I adore and have quite a few pinterest boards dedicated to various design loves of mine... One actually being Brand Identities which is why I decided to sign up for class so I could have a "play" myself... I am merely an enthusiast and not at all a professional!)

I chose a real life Etsy Store for my "case study" as I like the look of the products and what the store owner does.

LOGO:

I created the following logo (super chuffed with myself, not really done proper logo design before!)

Revised:

The "Swoosh" under the ADDICTIVE is supposed to mimic cosmetics being applied and the stars are a play on the glittery nature to a lot of the cosmetics, and I decided to include the tag line of the store on to it but debating about whether to take it off or not? Still working on some more "simpler" designs for the packaging of the products.

Final:

After showing Amber the revised logo she expressed her love for the 2 different fonts used originally and so I finalised the logo and put it into colour. I tried a gold colour within the logo but I just couldn't seem to get it right, so went for the greens from the chosen palette, and have the gold within the rest of the identity.

DESIGN BRIEF:

Background
Amber is a Make-up artist of over 10 years, mother of two and a wife from San Diego. She produces home made cosmetics that are sold on Etsy, but does not have a brand identity.

Objective
To make Addictive Cosmetics stand out in the Etsy market amongst the others.

Target Audience
According to Facebook likes, Females aged 25-34 are the most popular age group

Message
An all natural make-up line that is affordable great for all skin types and has the great colours the big names brands do. “Look Good, feel good”.

Competition
Other Etsy homemade cosmetic companies. Not one in particular.

Distinguishing Characteristics

  • Percentage of each months sales go to a family or a family with a child in need.
  • Affordable cosmetics, kind to skin.
  • A mother pursuing her passion in make-up while also caring for her family.

Creative Considerations
Some sort of gold and shimmer/glitter feel. Will need to look good on various tubes & containers.

I wanted to go for something bright/funky and playful so a rainbow type colour palette seemed to fit, and made sure it included a gold type colour.
