Acorn and Oak Enclosed Pattern

Acorn and Oak Enclosed Pattern - student project

I'll start with a confession: I love grids! I use them in makeup too :)

This class gave me some interesting insight about this unfamiliar style of pattern, I did some research and turns out I always liked Art and Crafts Patterns, just didn't have a name for it!

The project took a lot of time to complete, especially because I was using Photoshop and had to find ways to get the same result with different tools.

This is the pencil sketch with grid layout. Acorn and Oak Enclosed Pattern - image 1 - student project

This is my finished element of design, not sure the colors are right according to the Repose principle.

I also had a difficult time with the secondary pattern, looks more like ribbons than vines, at this point.

I tested the design in a half drop pattern and I love it! I muted the colors a little and added some noise so that it doesn't look so sterile.

What can I improve in this design? colors? textures? strokes? Any feedback is helpful!
