Abstract Art with a Twist: Paint a Craft in the Style of Klimt

I didn't quite make my fifth Skillshare class into the Summer Challenge.  So I joined the repeat teacher fall challenge.  (Thanks, Skillshare!)

Today, I published my fifth Skillshare class and my first craft class.  It's called Abstract Art with a Twist:  Paint a Craft in the Style of Klimt.

Here is my fall publishing plan.  I have 2 or 3 ideas for the third class, but I don't know exactly what I'll settle on.

I have already shot all the video for my next class and now need time in the studio to edit.

I plan to debut that class in early October.

-----------------------------

In July 2016, I published 2 classes.  My fourth Skillshare class  is Abstract Elements: Klee.  It's 15 minutes long and covers some basic shapes and color choices from Paul Klee.

The goal of this class and my third class (Miro') was to break down abstract art into manageable concepts that students could easily understand and quickly re-create in their own style and materials.

I conducted a workshop covering both the Miro and Klee classes.  It started July 17 and ran for 2 weeks.  (And it's free for Skillshare members, but you have enroll in either my Miro' or Klee class first.)

Abstract Elements: MIRO

Hi, all, I just published my third abstract art class on Skillshare.  The first two are below and last about 24 minutes each.  This class is a shorter format with a project that's quicker to tackle (length is 14 minutes).

Check it out and let me know what you think!

My goal is to publish my fourth class to Skillshare this month.  This Abstract Elements class will be on Paul Klee, and will be another shorter format, "Elements" class.

Thanks to all of you for making this positive and wonderful environment here on Skillshare.

Class Description

Painting abstract art is all about letting go and having fun.  Learn how to plan color choices and execute bold designs like one of abstract art's most celebrated artists, Piet Mondrian.  In under thirty minutes, you will learn how to complete a modern masterpiece and add your personal stamp to a recognizable work. We will have fun while immersing ourselves in an activity that ignites our imaginations and pushes the boundaries of our creativity.  No prior painting experience is needed - all levels are welcome.

Project:  Mondrian Tableau

Re-create a portion of Mondrian's Tableau No. 1 painting (below), painted from 1921 - 1925.  I will guide you step-by-step through the painting process.  By the end of the class, you will have a gallery-worthy work of modern art to showcase your talent.

This is the second class in a series about twentieth century abstract art.  (The first class covers Kandinsky.)  You may choose to follow along with the class reference material, OR you may choose your own abstract artist and reference work.  I encourage you to research many different artists and styles, and I will introduce you to contemporary artists in the accompanying class workshops.
