ARTING (29 sketches)

Hi fellow sketchbook magicians!

The 5 days of sketchbook magic was delightful (happy-scroll for my sketches). I look forward to forming a habit of "arting" as Ria says, "Artists art!" Good charm to me and all of you!

FIRST FIVE DAYS

I chose to do my sketches on watercolor postcards so that I can send it to friends via mail. Who wouldn't love a hand drawn postcard from a dear friend?

DAY 1

5a1d2b03

I used watercolor to sketch some flowers in my apartment grounds.

*Tools: watercolors (Winsor & Newton), watercolor brush pens (Pentel), watercolor postcards (Strathmore).

DAY 2

4c72acd2

My magic word for today was "Portrait." I ambitiously took my postcard sketchpad to my office, but ended up bringing it back home as I coudn't muster up enough courage to ask a colleague to pose for me. So, instead, my beloved husband posed. Yay!

*Tools: Pencil, artist pens (Faber-Castell), colored pencils (Prismacolor)

DAY 3

39280507

I started the sketch on the bus, and completed it in a café at the destination. My Day 3 seems more like a Day 4 (sketch everywhere), so I think I'll make my Day 4 like a Day 3 (dice time).

*Tools: artist pens (Faber-Castell)

DAY 4

dace52f6

I rolled the digital dice at random.org to get a 4. So with the timer set to 4 minutes, I rushed at sketching my mexican bowl, which is superbly colorful. Above is the true 4 minute sketch, while below is the one I worked on further.

*Feeling: Skething under time was energizing! I made marks that I usually wouldn't make, mixed color more freely and randomly, and enjoyed the thrill of the ticking seconds.

*Tools: Gouache, artist pen, mechanical pencil, colored pencils
