A very personal project - work in progress

A very personal project - work in progress - student project

This was a bit of a personal emotional challenge. Turns out I DID have an unfinished painting. A 15 year old painting. The first thing I ever tried to paint. I tried to do a painting of Holy Mother Mary. I quickly realized I had no knowledge about painting, gave up and threw it in a closet. For a decade and a half. Today I was forced to pull it out and reckon with it. It's still a WIP and I'm not sure what this will be yet but something critical happened today. I've been scared to draw a face on her for 15+ years. Now she has a face.

UPDATE DAY 2: I'm actually starting to love how this looks! don't really have a plan for what I'm doing with this yet. I am just having fun experimenting with new and old supplies. Here I used a clear coat of mod podge to secure the glitter down and it turned it GREEN! Very cool! (I used the spray paint kind and it had a lot of acetone in it which explains the color change I think) I used metallic gold watercolor paints for the crown and hair embellishments.
