Hero Pattern:

Oh boy I had a crazy week - and I dont know why I decided to make things crazier for myself and design my pattern with dots. It was very time consuming but I really enjoyed it :) Can't wait to make more!!

Sketches: (EEK im late! trying to catch up)

Was having a super duper crazy two weeks and I couldn't do much for this workshop. Trying to catch my breath today and catch up! yiykes

Here are some of my sketches:

Im experimenting with my drawing style - pushing myself out of my comfort zone to see what I come up with.

I feel like I need to sketch more greenery (leaves, etc) - I want a balanced pattern. Let's see how things work out.

Pattern Design Session: 2 weeks to Perfect Patterns

So excited to be a part of this workshop.

Since summer is approaching, I would like to do something with that.

Brainstorming keywords:

  • Bright/vivid colors
  • summery
  • sunshine
  • tropical?
  • sunflowers?
  • Yellowish/orangish (warm) tones
  • strong contrasts?
  • bright color combinations
  • summer breeze
  • beach season
  • vibrant flower combinations

I would like to do a pattern that is floral based - I have an obsession with flora :)

've been wanting to do something with pattern a long while back. I am very interested in textiles and fabrics.

Tis the season! My pattern is inspired by winter botanicals.

Traced drawings:

I traced the drawings using my wacom and the pencil tool in illustrator - but they are choppy and I was wondering how you guys did them. They are not clean at all. Cleaning them afterwards is very time consuming. Do I just use the pen tool and draw them out carefully at first? Any tips and tricks.
