Another awesome pattern class with the one and only Helen Bradley. 

My project is about the 4th pattern. It is based on 3 squares – Yes, only THREE! SQUARES! As I started creating, more and more ideas and variations floated in. The most important steps are shown here in this presentation.

While working, I exceeded the repeat to 4 motifs. This enables to more variations in coloring. Also, I remembered my previous class with Helen: "Roaming Square Pattern" where outlines around the basic motif are explained.

This technique of outlining gives so many possibilities. With different colorways are impressions possible – from classic to bohemian to retro. I could go on and on.

Upside down and inside out

After class, I watched a live stream with some friends. I had (as always) pen and paper to keep my hands busy :-) And so I played around with the 3 magical squares, turned and mirrored, with no clue if that would work or not. The next morning I tried my sketches in illustrator, and to my surprise, a completely new way opened :-)
